Filmaporto is seeking films from Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos to be screened at Batalha

The 2nd open call for Filmaporto Screenings — taking place monthly at Batalha Centro de Cinema and dedicated to filmmakers and films produced in the Porto municipality and region — is now live.

Films are eligible if they were directed or produced by filmmakers or groups who are resident or headquartered in Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia and Matosinhos, or if they were shot in the city. The films must have been completed more than a year ago and less than four years ago, must not have been shown in a public screening in any of the three municipalities, and, at the time of the application, should not have a commercial premiere planned in Porto. Applications should be submitted by email in line with the requirements of the open call.

Launched in May 2023 with the aim of providing a space and technical conditions for industry screenings – free of charge and open to the public – of films not previously shown in the city, Filmaporto Screenings have already presented works by filmmakers such as Francisco Moura Relvas, Francisco Noronha, Guilherme Afonso, João Baeta, João Pedro Amorim, LoTA Gandra, Miguel Bonneville and Pedro Ludgero.
